OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteer to be a Virtual English-Language Tutor
Volunteer to tutor refugees and individuals affected by armed conflict. Tutors meet with their students once a week for an hour via Zoom to help them improve their English-language skills. Through these lessons, students will not only have the opportunity to improve their English but also forge meaningful relationships with tutors, set goals, and build structure and routine into their lives. Given the difficult and uncertain experiences they are forced to face, these opportunities are critical to instilling a sense of normalcy and hope in their lives.

Host a Fundraiser
By hosting a fundraiser for RISE, you can help us raise money for school supplies, books, laptops, iPads, and other items that are critical to increasing the opportunities and resources available to refugees and conflict-stricken groups. For example, your funds could go towards new phones and laptops for newly arrived refugees or books, pens, and notebooks for young adults still living in Kabul.

Some fundraising ideas include: Crowdfunding by creating a GoFundMe page, organizing a bake sale or benefit concert, selling crafts online, etc.
Volunteer to Give Virtual Art or Music Lessons
Would you like to instill passion and hope in the lives of refugees and conflict-stricken groups? Do you have a passion or skill that you would like to share? If so, consider volunteering to teach virtual music or art lessons to children and young adults who have been displaced or whose lives have been drastically affected by armed conflict. These opportunities are critical to addressing the growing mental health crisis by teaching vulnerable groups how to express their emotions and cope with feelings of trauma, anxiety, or stress in a healthy and productive way.
Host Skill-Building Workshops or Lessons
Are you interested in enhancing the opportunities available to refugees? Do you have a skill you would like to share? Help refugees become healthy and productive members of society by teaching them a profitable or productive skill. Some critical skills include coding, resume-writing, test prep, etc.
